2010 Steward Application

Firstly, thank you for showing interest in becoming a volunteer steward for Oxford Folk Festival. My name is Cat, I am now in my second year of organising the lovely band of volunteer stewards for the festival. I had such a fab time at the 2009 festival I just couldn't resist coming back for more!

Please take a few minutes to read through the information below before completing your application form. While all stewards give their time voluntarily, we do need to make sure that all concerned are aware of the responsibilities that go along with being a steward.

In 2009 we had a really strong team of dedicated stewards, and it was a pleasure to work with you all. Without all your hard work the festival would simply not run smoothly. For me, the teamwork is the key. If you are going to be a member of my stewarding team I will be relying on you to take your position seriously - this includes turning up for shifts on time in a suitable condition to work, and working with and supporting festival and venue staff. In return, you can rely on me, my senior stewarding team and the rest of the festival staff to support you in your role as a volunteer steward.

In all matters and at all times during the festival, we need our stewards to act in a calm and professional manner. You are often the first point of contact with the public and you can make a big difference to their festival experience. We have a good relationship with our venues and the general public, and we would like to keep it this way!

Anyone who fails to honour their stewarding commitments without a valid reason will have their pass revoked and any future applications will be turned down. Harsh but true.

In general, stewards may be involved at any festival venues assisting at entrances/exits, information points, box office and any other areas where the movement of people attending the festival may need to be managed.

Shifts are usually four hours long (although you will obviously be allowed drinks/toilet breaks etc.) For giving 8 hours of your time over the weekend you will receive a pass to the Festival venues which can be used when you are not 'on duty'; alternatively anyone who can give 4 hours of their time will receive a pass for the Festival venues for that day. We will also need some extra special people who would like to spend a bit more time in the heart of the festival team and become senior stewards or team leaders. (As a reward you'll get my undying gratitude and access to my secret box of chocolate biscuits... oops, not so secret any more..!) There are a limited number of spaces available for this ultimate privilege, so be sure to let me know your relevant experience in the section on the form below.

You must be over 18 years old at the time of the festival to be a steward.

**There are only a handful of spaces left for indoor camping! Email Cat for details and a booking form.**

I look forward to working with you!
